Motowatt W1X at the Lyon 2 Wheels Show: an electric motorcycle that shakes up the market

The current state of motorcycles has recently been highlighted by the presentation of the W1X, the new electric motorcycle from the French brand Motowatt, at the Salon of Two Wheels in Lyon. After the great success of its first electric motorcycle last year, the brand has made a striking move with a 100% French model, equipped with axial flow motors and a range that meets the average. In addition to the classic W1X version, Motowatt also presented the Scrambler version, which promises to attract thrill-seekers.
Motowatt: a young French brand making noise
Motowatt is the story of two brothers, Olivier and Henri Rabatel, who ventured into the world of electric motorcycles with the ambition of changing the market. The idea? To create electric motorcycles made in France, combining performance, design, and respect for the environment. After making waves with their first motorcycle, the W1X has been revealed with a new version: the Scrambler. These motorcycles are assembled near Figeac (Lot), ensuring 100% French manufacturing.
The details that make a difference
The W1X and its Scrambler version come equipped with axial flow motors integrated into each wheel. These motors, two in total, offer a combined power of 25 kW, equivalent to 34 horsepower. There are no games with this, perfect for those looking for an electric motorcycle that impresses! With such power, the maximum speed reaches 114 km/h for the W1X and 115 km/h for the Scrambler version. Quite appealing for enjoying the road, don’t you think?
Speaking of enjoyment, range is always an important criterion when it comes to electric motorcycles. Here, the W1X and the Scrambler do not disappoint. They can reach 131 km according to the WMTC cycle, which is average for electric motorcycles in this category. Moreover, the 6.7 kWh battery recharges from 20% to 80% in just 1h20 thanks to an optional 3.3 kW charger. Ideal for a ride without worrying too much about the battery.
As for the design, Motowatt has opted for lines inspired by café racers, with a modern and futuristic touch. The two versions – the W1X and the Scrambler – have a look that does not go unnoticed. Additionally, these motorcycles are equipped with 17-inch wheels and 342 mm disc brakes, ensuring a smooth and safe ride. The weight of 178 kg remains reasonable for an electric motorcycle, ensuring good maneuverability.
A highly anticipated launch for summer 2025
Although the W1X and the Scrambler are still not available, Motowatt plans a launch for the summer of 2025. If you’re already excited about these new motorcycles, you can pre-order them now with a down payment of 300 euros. And the best part is that there are several colors to choose from, to customize your ride. As for the price, it is said to be 14,950 € for the W1X and 15,450 € for the Scrambler version. A fairly competitive price for high-end electric motorcycles, especially with the option of license B, making them accessible for young riders.
