MG4 XPOWER: The electric revolution of the MG brand

The MG4 XPOWER consolidates as the most powerful model of the brand acquired by the Chinese giant SAIC Motor in 2007. In 2020, the brand was relaunched in France and currently ranks sixth in the electric vehicle market, surpassing Volkswagen with a share of 8.27%. Its outstanding performance/price ratio ensures that 2023 will be another record year for MG.

Stunning sales growth

Paving the way for success, MG achieved its best sales month in June with 4,148 registrations, a 269% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, it sold 17,392 units by August, consolidating its position in the French automotive market and overseas territories.

Improvements in the MG4 versions in 2023

Launched in the fall of 2022, the MG4 offers several models:

  • Standard: 125 kW of power and a 51 kWh battery for a range of 350 km WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure).
  • Comfort: enhanced equipment, 204 hp of power and a 64 kWh battery for a range of 450 km.
  • Luxury: similar technical features to the Comfort model but with a more comprehensive equipment list.

Improvements include single-pedal driving, handles at both ends, an additional rear headrest, a rear windshield wiper, and larger wheels: 17-inch alloy instead of the 16-inch steel on the MG4 Standard and 18 inches on the Luxury version.

More range with the new Extended Range version

In July 2023, MG launched the Extended Range version, capable of traveling up to 520 km WLTP on a single charge. Equipped with the most powerful motor in the range (180 kW or 245 hp), this vehicle provides greater range and performance to its users.

The MG4 Luxury Extended Range, however, was not MG’s most powerful model for long. At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the MG4 XPOWER was presented, evoking images of Lamborghini with its aerodynamic headlights, vertical LED turn signals, and air intakes. The XPOWER badge is present both on the rear and on the door sills and inside the vehicle.

Sporty design and features

With a vertical leaf diffuser and two spoilers, one on the split roof line, the MG4 XPOWER presents a sporty and striking design. The contrasting black roof and side skirts match the front bumper, which has a glossy black finish and gray details.

An elegant and tech-savvy interior

The interior also features upgrades, including custom upholstery with Alcantara and red stitching. The 7-inch screen provides useful information, such as the speed of the MG4 XPOWER, power level, energy recovery, speed limits, and onboard computer data.

In addition, Android Auto and CarPlay connectivity is available by connecting the smartphone via a Type A USB cable. A second port, this time of type C, is integrated into the central storage compartment.

  • Ease of maneuverability: associated with a 360-degree view and reduced rear visibility due to the additional headrest.

Thus, the MG4 XPOWER proves to be an effective and attractive solution for those seeking an electric car with sporty features and greater range.
