Launch of the Suzuki e-Address: a first step towards an electric range

lanzamiento del suzuki e address un primer paso hacia una gama electrica

After Honda and Yamaha, Suzuki was the last major Japanese manufacturer without an electric offering in the scooter market. However, the brand has arrived with the e-Address, an electric scooter inspired by its gasoline model, the Address 125. Introduced during the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in India, this agile vehicle of 4 kW (equivalent to 5.4 hp) offers a range of 87 km and features a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery of 3.07 kWh. But is it enough to compete with Yamaha, Honda, and others? Let’s take a closer look!

An electrical 50cc engine with a decent range

The e-Address is Suzuki’s late response to the electric market. With a motor equivalent to a 50cc gasoline, it offers 4 kW of power and a torque of 15 Nm. It is more than enough for urban use, but we shouldn’t expect outstanding performance.

The announced range is 87 km, which is acceptable for a scooter of this size. The problem? Charging. It takes 6 hours and 40 minutes for a full charge on a conventional power outlet, and the battery is not removable. So, if you live in an apartment, finding a practical solution will be quite a challenge…

Modern equipment, but without frills

Regarding the equipment, Suzuki has opted for simple yet effective. A 4.2-inch color TFT display, connectivity with smartphones, and simplified navigation. Nothing out of this world, but more than sufficient for an urban scooter.

The big advantage is the reverse mode. Let’s be honest, in a 122 kg vehicle, we won’t use it every day. But it’s always nice to have it.
As for driving, three modes are offered:

  • Eco: Ideal for maximizing range, but don’t expect it to roar the engine.
  • Mode A: Increases regenerative braking for better engine braking.
  • Mode B: Simulates the behavior of a gasoline scooter, perfect for those who enjoy the classic feeling.

A basic but effective cycling part

For the chassis, Suzuki has opted for a tubular frame and a telescopic front fork, accompanied by a rear shock absorber. Nothing revolutionary, but it serves its purpose.

However, the braking could have received a bit more attention. A front disc, but a rear drum… We would have preferred to see a double disc to provide a bit more grip.

A launch in India before Europe

Suzuki plans to launch the e-Address in India in April 2025, before arriving in Europe at the end of the year. It is a logical strategy, considering that the Indian market is very promising for electric scooters. By 2030, Suzuki wants to offer eight electric models. The e-Address is just the first of a long series.
