KTM 390 Adventure R: A motorcycle designed for rally and adventure enthusiasts

KTM 390 Adventure R: Una moto diseñada para los amantes del rally y la aventura

The KTM 390 Adventure R is the bike that is going to set the trails on fire this year. KTM has given its best to present us with a more robust model, inspired by rally bikes, ideal for embarking on adventures on challenging tracks and winding roads. This “rally” version is even more prepared for long journeys, adequately equipped to devour kilometers without setbacks. So, if you are looking for a bike capable of doing it all, from the city to rugged paths, you have found the treasure.

Features That Wow

When it comes to equipment, KTM has truly made an effort to offer a trail bike that does not hold back. The brand’s typical trellis chassis is combined with an LC4c engine that provides impressive power to face the roads. And since we are on a rally model, it features elements such as the fully adjustable 43 mm open cartridge fork in compression and rebound (30 clicks on each side). In terms of comfort and efficiency, it does not fall behind.

For the wheels, they remain solid: a 21-inch front and an 18-inch rear. With Mitas Enduro Trail E07+ tires, the KTM 390 Adventure R will take you where other bikes would hesitate to venture. Moreover, to stop without worries, the bike is equipped with a 320 mm floating disc brake and a dual-piston caliper at the front. This will help you control the toughest terrains.

The Adventure X: A More Road-Oriented Version

If the “R” version seems to be the machine for everything, KTM also offers a smoother option: the Adventure X. This variant remains an excellent choice for long trips, but it is more focused on asphalt with slight adventure capability on roads. The wheels change from 21 and 18 inches to more road-friendly sizes, with 19 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear. The tires also differ, featuring MRF Meteor or Apollo Tramplr XR, designed to offer better performance on the road than in the mud.

The WP Apex suspensions on the Adventure X are also a bit less technical. The travel is 200 mm compared to the 230 mm of the Adventure R, still solid, but without the same adjustment capabilities. However, the preload of the shock absorber spring remains adjustable, although adjustments for other parameters such as compression or rebound are lost. It is a logical compromise if you are looking for a bike more dedicated to the road, without completely sacrificing its off-road capabilities.

Performance and Equipment: The Key to the Difference

What stands out about the KTM 390 Adventure R is its superior quality in terms of handling comfort. We are talking about a bike capable of adapting to almost any type of terrain, from smooth roads to dusty, muddy, or rocky paths full of potholes. But to really give you an idea of its potential, let’s take a look at its performance.

The LC4c engine of this 390 is powerful enough to take on other higher displacement bikes, while offering a maneuverability that will delight both beginners and experienced motorcyclists. It is a perfect blend of the lightness needed to navigate obstacles and the power to cover kilometers without blinking.

Regarding suspensions, the Adventure R is one of the standout models in its category. The fork and shock absorber WP Apex are set to be responsive and easy to adjust, which is ideal for facing changing terrains. The adjustments are simple and allow you to adapt your riding style according to the terrain. If you are looking to maximize your performance in more extreme terrains, you won’t be disappointed.
