telechargement 4

The Kia EV9 is one of the most anticipated electric cars from the South Korean brand. After presenting a concept about a year and a half ago, the production model’s design has now been revealed. This muscular SUV combines an elegant style with an interior designed to accommodate up to seven people. The global launch of the EV9 is expected to take place at the end of March, with commercial availability starting in October 2023.

Large exterior and interior size

The first thing that catches the eye about the new Kia EV9 is its large size, both outside and inside. The vehicle boasts generous dimensions thanks to its total length of 4.90 meters, 1.89 meters in width, and 1.72 meters in height. This means that this vehicle positions itself as one of the largest electric SUVs on the market. Moreover, inside, there is space for up to three rows of seats, which is great for large families or trips with many passengers. Additionally, the exterior details of the EV9 are impressive. It is inspired by the brand’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy. Sharp edges and straight lines predominate, giving it a bold and exclusive character, reinforced by the aesthetic of its front LED headlights.

Powertrain and batteries

This electric SUV is equipped with two electric motors located at both ends of the vehicle, delivering a combined output of 330 kW (449 HP). This results in incredibly fast acceleration, achieving 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Regarding batteries, the EV9 offers a range of between 470 and 480 km. This is achieved thanks to the 77 kWh lithium-ion battery system. The 800V DC fast charger allows for 80% of the battery to be charged in just 18 minutes. On the other hand, the EV9 also features an 11 kW portable AC charger with a Type 2 cable.

Modern interior full of technology

The new Kia EV9 surprises us with its modern interior, equipped with the latest technology. It includes digital displays both in the instrument panel and the central multimedia curved screen of 12.3 inches. This screen is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so you can connect your smartphone from anywhere. The central console is divided into two zones. The upper part features the climate control system, and the lower part has a button panel to house all the controls of the EV9. Furthermore, the EV9 incorporates advanced safety systems that include autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane keeping assist, rear collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring.

Price and availability

Following its global launch at the end of March, the Kia EV9 will be commercially available in October 2023. The brand has not yet finalized the price, but it is estimated to be between €50,000 and €60,000 . It will include an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty for the battery and a free maintenance plan for 5 years or 100,000 km.

Conclusions

With the launch of the Kia EV9, the South Korean company consolidates its position as one of the leading electric vehicle manufacturers. Its muscular exterior design, spacious and modern interior, and powerful powertrain make it an interesting option for those users looking for an electric SUV. The expected commercial availability is from October 2023, so if you want to know more about it, stay tuned!
