Couldn’t have asked for a better season start for Marc Márquez! In his debut with the official Ducati team, the Spaniard showcased his talent by winning the Grand Prix of Thailand at the Buriram circuit. A perfect weekend, crowned by victory in the sprint race on Saturday and a masterful win on Sunday. To top it off, he takes all the points on offer. A true masterstroke! This first GP also marks the return of the Márquez clan’s dominance, as his brother Álex finished in a magnificent second place. Bagnaia, his teammate at Ducati, completes the podium.

An intense race under the blazing heat

It was known that Thailand would be a true physical and strategic test. With 36 degrees at the start, the riders had to manage their tires with utmost care. Marc had a blazing start, setting his pace from the early laps. But on the seventh lap, surprise: he let his brother Álex pass. A mechanical problem? Nothing obvious. Maybe a strategy to better manage his tires. In any case, the suspense remained until the last four laps.

There, Marc decided it was time to close the deal. A surgical attack, total domination, and thus he claimed the first victory of the season. Álex, who dreamed of his first victory in MotoGP, tried to keep the pace, but ultimately settled for second place, happy to be on the podium.

Ducati at the top, Aprilia in trouble

This Grand Prix confirms a trend that was anticipated: Ducati continues to be the benchmark in MotoGP. With three bikes on the podium, the Italian brand demonstrates impressive power. Bagnaia, the reigning world champion, secured third place, but it feels like he will have to fight to keep his crown this year.

For Aprilia, it’s another story. The reigning champion Jorge Martín couldn’t even start due to his pre-season injuries. A tough blow for him and the team, which will have to manage without him in Argentina. However, there was a pleasant surprise with the rookie Japanese Ai Ogura, who took a remarkable fifth place for Aprilia-Trackhouse.

A championship that promises to be super tight

With 22 races this season, we are far from having a fixed scenario. Márquez has made an impact from the start, but nothing is defined. His adaptation to Ducati seems perfect, and he will have to be counted on. But Bagnaia has not yet said the last word, and Jorge Martín, once recovered, will return to the battle.
Meanwhile, heading to Argentina for the next round. We will see if Marc can continue this streak, or if his rivals will react. One thing is for sure: this season promises to be exciting!
