We all know that range is a crucial criterion for any two-wheeled electric vehicle. Here, the Askoll XKP80 offers a range of 101 km on a single charge, thanks to its removable batteries of 1.7 kWh (and 8 kg each). It is fully capable of handling the distance on daily urban trips without major issues. And for recharging? Easy: you just need to plug the batteries into a household outlet, and in 6 hours they’re ready to ride again.
The “Boost” function: to dodge traffic
And there’s the interesting little extra: the “Boost” function. It’s a button on the handlebar that allows you to unleash all the power of the scooter for a short period. Imagine this: you’re in heavy traffic, you want to overtake a taxi that’s going very slow… Press the button, and you’re off like a shot. It’s the fun touch of the scooter, and it really does its job to avoid being stuck in traffic jams.
Connectivity and smart: the XKP80 version 2.0
This scooter is not only electric and efficient, but also ultra connected. The myAskoll app lets you control your scooter remotely: you can turn it on, geolocate it, log your trips, and even track your carbon footprint. Let’s face it, the idea of tracking your carbon footprint through an app is a bit of a gimmick, but it’s still great to be able to manage your scooter from your smartphone. It’s like your machine has its own digital brain.
Competitive price, but…
This is where things get a bit unfavorable. With a price of 5,390 euros, the XKP80 is not the cheapest electric scooter on the market. But if you compare it with models of the same range, especially from competing brands like Easy-Watts or Niu, it’s not far off in terms of price. However, for motorcyclists or those looking for a truly premium model with a more powerful motor or a more elaborate aesthetic, this scooter might not be enough. It clearly positions itself in the practical segment of urban electric scooters, but not revolutionary.
